"Mother Earth" to be given human rights

A new UN treaty is being drafted that would see planet Earth being granted the same rights as humans.
Bolivia are behind the move which is aimed at granting the planet itself the right to life, to clean water and to fresh air. Ambassador Pablo Salon stated that his country, which has suffered significant environmental damage over the years due to mining, seeks to achieve harmony with nature.
Bolivia is drawing up a draft UN treaty which would give Mother Earth the same rights as humans, including the right to life, to pure water and clean air. The South American country wants the UN to recognize the Earth as a living entity that humans have sought to 'dominate and exploit'.
