A man suffering from epilepsy for 23 years was found to have a rusted bullet lodged in his brain.
Wang Tianqing recalls an incident in 1988 in which he was knocked unconscious by a blow to the head, he was checked out at hospital and sent home believing he'd simply been hit by a slingshot but as it turns out the injury had been a lot more serious than had been previously believed.
A two-centimetre rusted bullet, embedded in the head of a farmer for 23 years, has been removed at a local hospital. In 1988 Wang Tianqing, who lives in Zhangjiakouin city in northern China's Hebei province, was knocked unconscious on his way home by a blow to the head.

And they didn't do a simple X-ray 23 years ago!? Talk about "socialized" medicine, though I would chalk this up to medical incompetence- "Just give him 2 aspirin and send him home!" I'm surprised he has lived for as long as he has!

South Korea also has so-called 'socialized medicine'. And it's not as bad as China. No, Korea has some of the best facilities for diabetes and cancer. As for China...Yeah, I'd definitely chalk this up for incompetence. It's RURAL China!

Definitely. There are people who survived much worse too. Random trivia: A table saved Hitler's life from a bomb's detonation.

Steel bullets are nothing new, or unusual. The typical armor-piercing bullet has a hardened steel core, which is enclosed with a copper jacket. The bullet hits hard metal, the copper jacket peels back like a banana, and the hardened steel insert continues on through the metal. The British used steel bullets in the late 1800s and early 1900s, usually covered in a thin, copper wash, for sporting rifles that were to be used in Africa. The steel bullet was used to penetrate deeply into the brain of elephants, buffalo, rhino and other game that could be dangerous if wounded. In World War I, the Ger... [More]

Russia makes alot of cheap steel ammo. ( Wolf, Tula ) Wouldn't surprise me if that junk rusted in the box before I got it home.
