New fingerprint analysis method developed

A new use has been discovered in the ever-growing field of nanotechnology: fingerprint analysis.
New technology will allow old, dry fingerprints to be examined through the use of gold nanoparticles in order to help law enforcement officers to collect new evidence in old cases that had previously gone cold.
A new fingerprint analysis method will make it easier for forensic investigators to study old, dry fingerprints, potentially unmasking new evidence in cold cases. Using gold nanoparticles, researchers were able to target amino acids on non-porous surfaces, which will allow better analysis of latent fingerprints.
