The probes launched from Cape Canaveral on a mission to discover what's beneath the lunar surface.
Scientists have long pondered over the internal composition of the moon and it is generally believed that it is comprised of material that was jettisoned from the Earth after a collision with a body the size of Mars in the early days of the solar system.
An unmanned US rocket blasted off on Saturday from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida to deliver twin robotic probes to the moon in the hope of learning what is inside.

The probes launched from Cape Canaveral on a mission to discover what's beneath the lunar surface. Question is.. will they release the information when they discover the anomaly in Tycho, or will that be the (hidden) trigger that rejuvenates the space program with the sudden desire for a manned expedition to Jupiter...

Which anomaly do you mean ? Sorry, it was misplaced attempt at humour - I was referring to 'TMA-1' .. better known as the black monolith (or slab) that was the 'star' of the film "2001 - A Space Odyssey". I won't explain it further, as that would be a spoiler for anyone who has not yet seen the film. Although I'm not entirely sure that one can 'spoil' a film like 2001...

♫ A little bit of airbrushing over here. A little bit of air brushing over there. Before we release the photo's to the public. Gotta keep our secrets to ourselves.♫ Why the heck do you think NASA says the Twin GRAIL probes are not going to arrive until next year!!! When one of their missions to the moon only took them 3 days. It is so they can alter the evidence before publication. A more economic way my A$$! Bull$h!t

TMA-1 buried in the Tycho crater on the moon (in 2001 : A Space Odyssey) is a haunting memory (literally! ): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fImIzrFccw

Which anomaly do you mean ? Hey boss-man!! I've had my suspicions about the Tycho crater, you can find my thread about it if you search for it. Or read my blog. I'm not out-right saying there are structures there. However, while viewing the Tycho Crater once on GE, I noticed what appeared to be buildings, and many of them, along with various other "anomalies". Interesting terrain if not. The strange part is, once I made a thread about it, the following day, the whole area's definition was shaded out and you couldn't zoom in to see the same details I was so shocked to see in the first place. Th... [More]
