Scotland could be sitting on a gold mine - literally - and plans are in the works to extract the gold.
After an initial rejection, ScotGold has applied for permission to extract gold and silver estimated to be worth $50m. Both supporters and objectors will weigh in during a meeting before the local board makes a final decision.
The mining company, Scotgold Resources, has asked for permission to extract millions of pounds worth of gold and silver from a hillside at Cononish, near Tyndrum.
It is the firm's second attempt at securing planning permission. The first application was rejected.
Planning officials have recommended the revised proposals be accepted.
