26-year-old Katie Dell is one of only 35 people in the world known to suffer from an allergy to water.
Katie has had to endure being unable to take a bath, go swimming or even cry without her skin coming out in a painful rash on contact with anything liquid. Unable to go out if the weather is bad in case it rains and having had to quit her job as a dance teacher because sweat also triggers the allergy, Katie is forced to stay indoors most of the time. When she does jump in the shower for a brief period it takes her skin two hours to recover from the ordeal. The condition is called aquagenic urticaria and is so rare that only 35 people in the whole world and known to suffer from it.
A young woman whose life is blighted by an allergy to water has told how she can't even watch a weepy film, because her own tears bring her out in a painful rash.
