12-year-old girl is allergic to the cold

Image Credit: sxc.hu Known as "cold urticaria", the condition means that any exposure to the cold could not only bring her out in a rash but may even lead to a potentially fatal anaphylactic shock. Abbey is no longer able to attend a regular school, has to wrap up at all times and can't go out unless the weather is warm. "Within minutes of being outside the reaction spreads all over her legs, arms and face, even if it's not that cold," said her mum. "She is desperate for the weather to warm up so she can play outside. Sometimes all she wants to do is go for a ride on her bike but she can't."
