The ship used by Captain Robert Scott on his doomed trip to Antarctica has been located off Greenland.
While the ship survived Scott's expedition, it later met its demise when it was damaged by ice during a mission to deliver supplies to base stations in the Arctic. The wreck was discovered by chance by a crew from the Schmidt Ocean Institute who were out testing echo-sounding equipment when they detected an unidentified object on the sea bed.

"The Terra Nova has such a story," said museum education officer Brian Kelly. "It is incredible that one of the most famous ships in history has been found 100 years after the race for the pole and in the year commemorating the event."
The wreck of the ship that carried Captain Robert Scott on his doomed expedition to the Antarctic a century ago has been discovered off Greenland.
