Is Egypt planning to rent out the pyramids ?

There are indications that Egypt intends to rent out some of its most valuable ancient monuments.
The idea has been downplayed by many as preposterous, however in a recent interview with the secretary general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Adel Abdel Sattar, it appeared that there were indeed plans to rent out monuments such as the pyramids, the Sphinx and the Abu Simbel Temple to an international tourism firm for a period of five years.Despite objections to the idea, the reality is that such a move could generate upwards of $200 billion, more than enough to pay off the country's national debt and to provide financial stability for decades. While it certainly makes sense from an economic perspective, renting out Egypt's more valuable historical assets however may be seen as a step too far for many.
Egypt’s finance ministry sent a proposal to the country’s antiquities ministry to consider offering key monuments, including the pyramids, to international tourism firm as a quick solution to generate funds needed to overcome the financial crisis, an official has said.
