The search giant has produced a new type of footwear that can actually motivate you to move.
The experimental shoes are equipped with a plethora of gadgets including a computer, a gyroscope, a pressure sensor and an accelerometer. Using these tools the shoes can then provide feedback based on what you are or are not doing, for instance they can send a message to your phone to tell you how far you've walked or tell you that you've been sitting around too long via an on-board speaker.
Ultimately the goal would be to open the platform up to different brands who could customize the shoes to give them personality. "If you put what the shoe knows through an algorithmic logic engine, it can translate it into copy," said Google's Aman Govil. "Now if you give that copy to an interesting copy writer, you could give the shoe personality. One shoe could be the trash-talking shoe."[!gad]The experimental shoes are equipped with a plethora of gadgets including a computer, a gyroscope, a pressure sensor and an accelerometer. No, the search giant isn’t planning to get into the sneaker or footwear business, but to showcase its new advertising innovation program called “Art, Copy and Code” the company has hacked together a crazy pair of sneakers that would even draw Marty McFly’s attention.
Oh joy, shoes that nag and tell people you're out of the house and can rob you. Well, that would be second time the shoes rob you, the first time was at the register.
I can hear it now... "Hey! When are you gonna trim those nails?" "How about a break? My treads tired." "Quit pulling on my tongue so freakin' hard!" "Whew! These socks stink!" "The next time you let the dog chew on me, I'll tie my laces together while your running!" "Don't you dare walk through that puddle!'
I can see the News headline, ''guy robbed for his shoes'' . but would the shoes be able to tell they'd been stolen, ring the police, and testify in court....? :-)
