Ever get the feeling you are being watched ?

Scientists believe that the sensation of being watched is actually hard-wired in to our brains.
New research suggests that we are predisposed to assume that someone is staring at us even when nobody is actually doing so. Far from being a 'sixth sense' as some believe, the feeling is actually an evolutionary mechanism for keeping us alert and ready - the brain effectively intervenes to prepare us for potential threats.

"It turns out we're hard-wired to believe others are staring at us," said psychologist Prof Colin Clifford. "A direct gaze can signal dominance or a threat, and if you perceive something as a threat, you would not want to miss it. So simply assuming another person is looking at you may be the safest strategy."
The feeling that others are watching us is an evolutionary mechanism designed to keep us alert and ready for interaction before it really happens, experts said.

Followed? I guess there are times I feel it but in my case, I usually am by one of the "somethings" that have resided near forever either in the family home near Rosslyn, in Scotland, or in several homes in the "Southern" part of America. No, I am not delusional nor paranoid. these folks I see pretty much daily, so I hang with other MH types and no one has yet suggested I commit myself or someone else might...so far. LMFAO. :w00t:

I have never really had this sensation since becoming an adult. As a child, I felt this way. Followed? LMFAO. :w00t: Wow, nice place to be from! I have been in that area.

I suspect that if you wear a pointy hat and a long robe and clogs when you are out and about, people will tend to either stare at you or work hard at not glancing in your direction.

When I go out to public... people look at me a lot.. maybe because im tall.. or it could be my pointy wizard hat.. i wear even to the grocery store.. I always take a long look at people that are taller than the average.... maybe wishful thinking as I'm only of average height. How tall are you anyway?

Do I ever get the feeling I am being watched? No, not really, unless I notice someone staring at me. The exception are my cats lazing on the stairs -- they watch carefully as I walk up or down them.

I remember one time... I was out hunting with my dad I was 10 or 11 and could not yet have a gun. he hauled me around the woods for several hours and I kept telling him "dad we are being watched", "dad we are being followed", "Dad something is watching us". he kept shushing me and eventually turns and said where is whatever is watching us. as he finished asking me the question a doe and surprisingly young fawn black tail deer comes out of the brush directly behind me on our trail not more than 20 feet away and looked him in the eyes before They turned around and left. I turned to see it when h... [More]

Okay guys the other day i was at Walmart helping my dad put the Boat Cover on while my mom was in the store shopping. Now there were these two guys a little bit over and they were watching us. Now there was nothing wrong with watching what we were doing. However for whatever reason i could feel this one dude giving me the Evil Eye and he was literally making my skin crawl to the point where i thought i was getting bitten up by bugs. Every time i looked back at them they were looking right through me. I even took a peak back at them and sure enough he was looking straight through me. I am usual... [More]
