DARPA unveils new humanoid robot

Boston Dyanmics has developed 'Atlas' as a successor to their already impressive PetMan robot.
The bipedal hydraulic-powered machine possesses superior strength and dexterity over previous models and is capable of keeping its balance when confronted with uneven terrain or after being hit by a heavy weight. To help control the robot, the Pentagon is holding a contest to see who can develop software enabling Atlas to do everything from walking across a rubble-strewn field to driving a car.

"Two weeks ago 19 brave firefighters lost their lives," said program manager Gill Pratt. "A number of us who are in the robotics field see these events in the news, and the thing that touches us very deeply is a single kind of feeling which is, can't we do better ?"
At 6'2" and 330 pounds, DARPA and Boston Dynamics' latest robot, Atlas, is arguably their most imposing humanoid yet. Like PetMan before it, the hydraulic-powered machine ambles along on two legs.

LOL! hehe yes...But the fembot or some say 'sexbot' industry is already getting huge over there, google it up as I wont provide links as the ones Ive seen are all in lingerie and contorted positions! Think how long rubber dolls for lonely pervy guys have been around... so yes, many will be created just for 'that'... And NO, Im not a perv for knowing this, I'm just as well clued up on japanese androids and robotics !!

It's slightly unnerving. How small can a nuclear reactor be these days? Perhaps if we ever get fusion technology or a way to power these things they will be common.

I'm getting used to it now, but for the record the original title of this post was: I have seen my own Death! And it's name it Atlas! Just for those who may be interested this is the fifth or sixth time posts of mine have been censored, modified or completely deleted. I understand in this case that it makes a better headline now, and lets users know what the topic is about, but it still takes some getting used to on my end. You know, being a Yankee and all, with my 1st amendment that doesn't apply here... I do think it's strange that they don't notify you.

Maybe Japan is secretly building a robot army? But the Japanese usually think outside the box. Their armies could be made up of creepy child robots that would freak out and confuse the enemy. The sexbots could seduce the soldiers and attack when their guard is down. Then some crazy tentacle type robot comes out of nowhere. That whole situation would mess with any mind. All jokes of coarse, before anyone asks me to provide sources or evidence.
