A celebration of all things Star Wars has been kickstarted by cries of 'May the Fourth be with you'.
It's an event that has become something of a tradition in recent years and with hype surrounding the upcoming seventh installment of the Star Wars movie franchise reaching fever pitch, interest in today's science fiction fest couldn't be higher.
The first use of the tongue-in-cheek phrase is thought to have occurred back in 1979 when it was used in a newspaper message to congratulate newly elected British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher - "May the Fourth Be With You, Maggie."
Nowadays May 4th has become synonymous with fan gatherings and celebrations as thousands of Star Wars enthusiasts from across the world dress up as their favorite characters, perform mock light-saber duels and argue over whether it was Han or Greedo that shot first.
The New Movie 'The Force Awakens' is set to hit cinemas later this year on December 18th.
The Star Wars franchise are fun movies to watch, but do we really need a holiday (even a fake one) to celebrate it? I don't think so. yes we do more fake holidays, every day, forever.

I saw the three original Star Wars films in theaters when they first came out. The first one was a revelation. No one had seen special effects like that before. Technology changes, but a good stories always remains a good story. Hopefully future Star Wars films will not be overtaken by CGI and loose the empathy of a good story.

That's the plan at this with this initial one. They are trying to use less CG and more ac... [More]
there should be another May the Sith be with you, that could be on the 6th ii guess or the 5th Sorry May 5th is already taken Cinco de Mayo May 6th is Sith Day, Revenge of the 6th.
I loved the first three Star Wars movies. Then along came number four (episode 1) "The Phantom Menace" (1999) Ugh--- George Lucas really dropped the ball there. A whiny, unfunny Jar Jar binks and obnoxious kid who grows up to be Darth Vader. And "midi chloriens" (spelling?) as a scientific explanation for the Force. Ugh. Only when Darth Maul was on screen was it any good.
