Residents of Wangaratta in Victoria have found their homes buried underneath mountains of tumbleweed.
Known as 'hairy panic', the fast-growing plants have been blowing in to the town in vast quantities and merging together to form huge drifts both in the streets and outside people's houses.
Some residents have spent hours trying to clear up the mess, which the local council won't touch because it isn't deemed to be a fire hazard, only to have more of the weeds arrive the next day.
In some gardens the tumbleweed is piled up so high that it has managed to reach the roof.
It is believed that an extended period of dry and windy weather is primarily responsible.
