Residents were left shocked after a massive metal cylinder plummeted from the heavens on Thursday.
The bizarre incident occurred in a jade mining area in the north of the country where the object, which measured 4.5 meters long and 1.2 meters wide, came crashing down.
Another large piece of metal was also reported to have fallen through a nearby house roof.
Local residents reported hearing a loud explosion just before the objects hit the ground.
"We were all afraid of that explosion," said Ko Maung Myo, a local villager. "Initially, we thought it was a battle. The explosion made our houses shake. We saw the smoke from our village."
A closer examination of the objects later revealed that they were most likely debris from a Chinese rocket which launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre the day before.
The rocket had been carrying an experimental satellite however it is unclear what happened to it.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
