New video reveals Huygens' harrowing descent

NASA has released a new video recreating the Huygens probe's historic touchdown on Saturn's moon Titan.
It is difficult to believe that it has been twelve years since Huygens separated from the Cassini spacecraft and headed down through Titan's thick atmosphere.

The landing, which revealed an alien landscape that no human had ever set eyes upon before, took place on June 14th 2005 following a descent which lasted just under two-and-a-half hours.

Now NASA has taken all the original data and photographs recorded during the mission and used them to recreate the probe's journey to the surface in more detail than ever before.

The resulting video, which was released last Wednesday, can be viewed below.
