Doctors discover needles in woman's brain

How did these needles get here ? Image Credit: Henan TV
A woman who underwent a CT scan in China was inexplicably found to have two needles in her head.
The 29-year-old, who hails from Zhengzhou, had undergone the scan after being involved in a car accident because doctors had recommended that she be checked for any possible head injury.

When the images came back however, to everyone's surprise, the woman appeared to have two large needles embedded inside her brain - each measuring approximately 5cm in length.

What made the discovery all the more mysterious was the fact that the needles had nothing to do with the car accident - they had seemingly been in there for years without her knowing about them.
Stranger still, she had no recollection whatsoever of any head injuries and it appeared that they must have been inserted when she was young because, judging by the diameter of the needles, they would have been unable to pierce the skull of an adult.

Remarkably, the woman had never experienced any headaches or other problems as a result.

Because of this, it is unlikely that doctors will attempt to remove them.

The case has since been reported to the police for further investigation.

Brain piercing?

That's pretty disturbing. Investigating her parents and childhood in general sounds like the place to start. At least she's OK, though, and it would definitely be a bad idea to try to remove them.

This kind of patient was my nightmare scenario when I was an MRI tech.

They shouldn't have taken it out. I'm sure she felt pretty sharp while it was in there...                      ... OK bye

That's a good point! I thought about it being an attempted DIY abortion, but I forgot about the One Child rule.

Sounds like someone wanted their only child to be a son.

Makes my stomach turn just thinking about how they could have gotten there.  You would expect it to have caused a considerable amount of distress to her at the time.  I wonder how the police will move forward with the investigation.  Very strange case.
