The woman was caught on hospital CCTV camera attempting to beat up the robot with a large stick.
Robots are starting to replace humans more and more these days; in China, for example, some hospitals have taken to replacing traditional human receptionists with robotic counterparts.
While this obviously has its advantages, it can also prove problematic - as evidenced by a recent incident in which a woman, who had seemingly become frustrated with one of these machines, resorted to smashing it about with a large wooden stick in full view of everyone else in the lobby.
The bizarre case of robo-rage occurred at the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University in the city of Xuzhou on April 23rd and it wasn't long before the footage had gone viral.
According to local reports, the woman had been suffering from some sort of mental illness and the hospital's security department was forced to call the police in to attend the scene.
Exactly what happened to the woman afterward remains unclear.
Oh I wish they did that. But instead the robo switchboard programs just repeat the same menu of options over and over as if they don't have the "I need to speak to t representative" in their list. When I end up shouting at the robo switchboard, I also tell the first person to actually come on the line they need to talk to the programmers about their lack options. With so many people unemployed and supposedly "unemployable" they could use real humans to do that job. It might cost a little more but it would improve their customer satisfaction ratings.
