The so-called 'goblin' was found during construction work and has since been paraded on camera by the mayor himself.
According to Francisco Mayoral Flores, who presides over Santa Maria Regla, Mexico, the cryptozoological creature was found during construction work at a nearby warehouse.

Widely circulated footage shows him presenting the find in a white cardboard box.

"Samples have already been taken to determine a scientific explanation," he told Jam Press.
Flores himself seems to be certain that the remains are those of either a goblin or a nagual (a mythological Mesoamerican being that is capable of shapeshifting into the form of an animal).

The creature in the video is bizarre to say the least - like a cross between some sort of decomposing animal and a strangely shaped vegetable.

"If it had been found in another municipality, it would not have been relevant," said Flores.

"But due to the themes of goblins and the mystical here, there is a cultural and social demand to give it importance."
