A recent medical report details the strange case of a man who believed that the same day was repeating over and over.
In the classic 1993 Bill Murray fantasy comedy movie 'Groundhog Day', the main character - a cynical weatherman - finds that he repeatedly experiences the same day over and over again with everything playing out exactly the same way every time.
While the movie is undoubtedly fictional, medical reports have highlighted the real-life case of a man in his 80s who claimed to be experiencing exactly the same thing (albeit for a very different reason).
"Wherever I go, the same people are on the side of the road, the same cars behind me with the same people in them... the same person gets out of the cars wearing the same clothes, carrying the same bags, saying the same things... nothing is new," he said.
The problem got so bad that, on one occasion, he called his e-book manufacturer to complain that the device kept showing the same pages, while on another he phoned up a repair technician to ask for assistance because his TV was showing the same shows every day.
Unlike Bill Murray, however, the man wasn't stuck in a time loop. Instead, his experiences - according to doctors - were likely complications associated with Alzheimer's disease.
The condition is known as Deja vecu with recollective confabulation (DVRC).
Sadly, according to the report, he was never able to find a solution.
