The young boy attempted to gain the powers of the fictional web-slinger by enlisting the services of a black widow spider.
It goes without saying that being bitten by a deadly spider does not give you superpowers, but it's also not surprising that someone very young and impressionable might not realize that this is the case.

According to reports, an 8-year-old boy from Vichuloma, Bolivia recently attempted exactly this when he discovered a black widow hiding underneath a rock at a nearby river.

Hoping to gain web-slinging powers, he picked it up and allowed it to bite him on the hand.

When he got home, he was initially reluctant to tell his mother why he was suffering from severe aches and muscle contractions, but when his condition worsened he had no choice but to fess up.
He was quickly rushed to hospital and given an antidote to counteract the venom.

"We are extremely concerned because it came to our attention from the analysis and responses from the child after he had recovered that he used the arachnid for one simple purpose," said Ernesto Vasquez, head of the Zoonotic Diseases Programme for the Departmental Health Service of Oruro.

"He wanted to become Spider-Man."

Fortunately, after a five-day stint in hospital, the boy was well enough to go home.

what is it that religions said? Is it that faith moves mountains? Well perhaps mountains, but certainly not enough to convert you to spider-man.

I know an elderly woman who was bitten by a brown recluse on one of her toes as a child and the venom dissolved the bone & flesh.

When my daughter was 5 she started wetting the bed again and wanted to sleep with name.  After asking her why many times she finally said she didn't want vampires to eat her.  Her dad had let her watch Underworld.  That was a whole other conversation...anyways, I sat her down and we watched the making of with all the CGI and the actors talking about it.  She then understood that movies were make believe.   But, so many parents don't take the time to teach their kids about movies and that they aren't real, never mind age appropriate shows/movies...still angers me she saw that show so youn... I met a pilot that was bitten by a brown recluse when he was sleeping at a hotel. The skin on his arm still had big purple splotches on it years afterwards.
