Four years on from the appearance of several mysterious monoliths, another has suddenly shown up on a Welsh hill.
Back in 2020, we covered the unexplained appearance of various monolith-like structures in locations all across the world ranging from Romania and the Isle of Wight to the US states of Utah and California.
At the time, the mystery made headline news and left social media users scrambling to find answers.
This latest monolith, which was spotted at Hay Bluff near Hay-on-Wye at the weekend, resembles a block of steel approximately 10ft in height and is situated out in the middle of nowhere.
"I went off towards Hay Bluff towards where the trig point is and I looked over to my right," said Richard Haynes who spotted the structure while out running.
"I thought it looked a bit bizarre and might be a scientific media research thing collecting rainwater."
"But then realized it was way too tall and strange for that. Then I went up to it and it was about 10ft tall at least and triangular, definitely stainless steel. It was hollow and I imagine pretty light. Light enough for two people to carry it up and plant it in the ground."
As things stand, nobody knows who put it there or why.
All that can be determined is that it must have been set up relatively recently because, according to Haynes, he runs a similar route on a regular basis and this is the first time he'd seen it there.
