The long-running enigma of the mystery monoliths has entered a new chapter this week.
Spotted by the Las Vegas Police Department during a recent search and rescue mission, the monolith is situated in a hiking area around 20 miles north of the city.

"We see a lot of weird things when people go hiking like not being prepared for the weather, not bringing enough water... but check this out!" the department wrote on Facebook.

"Over the weekend, Las Vegas Metro Search and Rescue spotted this mysterious monolith near Gass Peak north of the valley. HOW did it get up there??"

The object itself is a tall rectangular prism with a highly reflective, mirror-like surface.

Its appearance follows on from the discovery of several other monoliths in locations around the world including one that showed up in Wales earlier this year and another that was found in Utah in 2020.

Others have also shown up in California, Romania and the UK's Isle of Wight.
The objects have been likened to the mysterious monoliths of Arthur C Clarke's iconic science fiction novel 2001: A Space Odyssey and director Stanley Kubrick's movie adaptation.

Questions still remain concerning the purpose of the structures and who is behind them.

Could they be an art installation of some kind, or is there some other significance to them ?

Is it the same person who is putting them up everywhere or are several different people responsible ?

The search for answers continues.

I read through the stories of the 2 base jumpers and environmentalists who removed one from a sensitive area and they never said.

They weren't Mountbatten's. They're at the bottom of the sea near Mullaghmore.     And I slowly slide out of the room...?

Whack it with a sledgehammer a few times then paint it with graffiti. That should fix the hoaxer's little wagon quite nicely.

The 2020 monoliths couldn’t have been just one person, not unless they bought a lot of plane tickets, but this one was definitely just a copycat. I remember when this first happened, I was seriously thinking about throwing one of these together out of sheet metal and setting it up in my hometown.

The Ocean Spray farmer who use to put the feeding strips in for deer in the hunting areas would try to make them look like crazy crop circles for the Google Earth nibbers. We were always waiting for the headline *Alien landing strip found in Pine Barrens.*
