The mysterious vandal had been leaving paintings of ghosts all around the Tarpon Springs area.
Local police officers had been left scratching their heads recently when an unidentified graffiti artist started leaving paintings of cartoon ghosts around the city of Tarpon Springs, Florida.
Each piece of graffiti would typically be signed off with the initials 'C + R'.
The identity of the artist would remain something of a mystery until, in an unrelated case, the culprit's manager recognized him in video footage that the police had released online.
It turned out that the man behind the ghostly graffiti was 34-year-old Christopher Thomas Rhodes who had reportedly been bragging about committing the vandalism at work.
Confirming his involvement wasn't difficult given that the initials on the paintings matched his name.
According to the police, he later admitted to creating the graffiti but maintained that he hadn't thought that it would be a problem because of the poor quality of the other graffiti in the area.
He now faces five counts of criminal mischief for this and several other unrelated incidents.
