The house's owner allegedly claimed that she'd been told by a ghost that he was stealing money.
Immortalized by the popular 2013 supernatural horror movie, this remote Rhode Island farmhouse was the scene of a notorious real-life haunting that plagued the Perron family for years.
The story goes that a witch had cursed the property, dooming anyone who lived there.
While the house has changed hands of number of times since then, its most recent owner, Jacqueline Nunez, reportedly fired one of her employees last month after the spirit of one of the building's former owners told her that he had been stealing money from a cash box.
The employee in question - Brian Dansereau - denies that he had stolen anything.
"She said, 'John Arnold told me you've been stealing money out of the cash box for the past two months'," he said during an interview.
"I literally stopped and I had to correct her like, 'John Arnold, one of the original owners?'"
Nunez herself is described on the official website as the house's 'spiritual custodian'.
"It does not matter whether you believe in the paranormal or not," she said.
"I and every person is entitled to experiences that bring understanding and meaning to our lives, including being informed or warned about wicked actors and actions. As far as Brian goes my experience with him devolved quickly, culminating in his at-will employment termination."
Whether or not Dansereau actually did steal anything currently remains unclear.
