Man obsessed with vampires caught dumping dead animals at churches

Image: AI-generated (Midjourney) The 48-year-old, who identified himself as "Count Dracula" when he appeared in court, had seemingly had an ongoing obsession with vampires and graveyards and believed that he would be able to live forever if he consumed the blood of enough animals.

According to reports, he was caught when police in Hampshire, England had set up surveillance to catch whoever had been dumping dead animals on the doorsteps of churches in the area.

Inverted crosses and even tarot cards were also found at some of the scenes.

These acts were not only disturbing for local churchgoers, but had also been condemned by local farmers whose livestock was being stolen and killed to fuel the man's macabre obsession.He was eventually identified after his DNA was found on some of the animal remains.

"It's a terrible thing to do," said local livestock owner Myra Noyce.

"It's upset us all, made us feel very uncomfortable. This is a lovely part of the world and to think of someone going around doing something like that is horrible."

The culprit, who had been in trouble with the police before, was described by a consultant psychiatrist during his trial as having "complex mental health difficulties".
