Mississippi alligator hunters catch 802-pound behemoth

The gargantuan reptile was caught by Megan Sasser and her family along the state's Yazoo River.
According to reports, the group - who had been hunting alligators for over a decade - came upon this monster specimen, which weighed 802 pounds and measured 14ft long, after a storm.

"At that point, we had no idea how big he was," said Sasser. "We just knew he was a good gator."

The creature was so large, in fact, that when the group finally managed to catch it, it was too large to even fit inside the boat, meaning they had to travel back to shore while towing it along beside them.
It wasn't until they were able to weigh it in that its immense size became apparent.

"We were just a few pounds shy of the record weight, two inches short of the record length, and less than an inch shy of the girth measurement needed to break the state record," said Sasser.

"But we're not disappointed. It was still the catch of a lifetime."

Sounds a bit "cliche" but it tastes kind of like chicken.

My nephew has eaten gator and he liked it. I opted for an ostrich burger. It was good too.

We bought a pontoon boat for outings on that Reservoir and people swam in it but a lot of the locals thought we were crazy to do it.

Some years back here in the UK a supermarket chain called Iceland started selling what you could say was exotic meets. They sold kangaroo, ostrich & crocodile burgers as well as ostrich fillets. I also thought crocodile tasted like chicken. The food was cheap as is Iceland's way but they no longer sell these products. As for the Gator i would of been pleased to see it live out it's days if it wasn't a problem in the area. An impressive animal indeed, however i'm sure i've seen bigger. Big for the state though.
