An unexpected tourist was recently captured on camera at the very top of Egypt's tallest pyramid.
Given their step-like outer structure and impressive height, the Egyptian pyramids have become a bit of a magnet over the years for thrill-seekers looking to climb right to the top - an act that is strictly forbidden by Egyptian authorities.
Some tourists caught trying to climb up the walls have even received jail sentences or have been barred from entering the country altogether.
When paramotorist Alex Lang was passing near to the pyramids on a recent flight, however, it wasn't a tourist that he spotted standing at the very top... not a human tourist, at least.
There, wandering around the topmost stones of the Great Pyramid, was a dog.
He quickly ascertained that the animal was barking at some birds perched nearby, but it was unclear what had compelled the dog to actually climb all the way up to the top in the first place.
When the footage was shared online, it generated a great deal of interest as well as significant concern for the wellbeing of the animal.
As things stand, however, Egyptian officials have yet to comment on the incident.
