A fresh new search for the missing plane's whereabouts aims to solve the MH370 mystery once and for all.
Exactly what happened to Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 after it took off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport on March 8th, 2014 still remains one of the most enduring mysteries in aviation history.

The plane had been heading to Beijing Capital International Airport in China, but after a series of unexplained direction changes and the seemingly deliberate disabling of its transponder, the aircraft - along with all its passengers and crew - disappeared without a trace, never to be seen again.

What followed was one of the most extensive search and rescue operations the world had ever seen, with teams from multiple countries scouring vast areas of open ocean for any sign of the plane's wreckage.

It soon became clear, however, that the mystery of what happened to MH370 would not be easily solved.

Fast-forward to the present and now a brand new search has been launched - the first in 11 years - by maritime exploration firm Ocean Infinity in collaboration with the Malaysian government.

The firm is conducting the search on a "no-find-no-fee" basis, with the government signing an 18-month contract which agrees to reimburse the company the sum of $70 million if the plane is found.
In total, it will be covering a search area exceeding 15,000 square miles.

"We're very relieved and pleased that the search is resuming once again after such a long hiatus," said Grace Nathan - a family member of one of the victims.

It's a sentiment shared by many others who lost loves ones aboard MH370.

Over the years, several theories have been put forward in an attempt to explain what could have happened to the airliner.

Some believe that the pilot deliberately flew the plane and its passengers to their doom for reasons unknown, while others have suggested that the aircraft may have been hijacked.

Whatever the case might be, hopefully this latest search will yield some answers at long last.

It's been parked just round the corner from me, down Dacre Road.  Caused loads of problems at first, but - you know, you just get used to stuff like this.  We've reported it like, a thousand times, but Croydon Council doesn't work very fast.  Next hot summer we'll have another riot and finally smash it up, sell it for scrap.
