A treasure trove of files pertaining to President Kennedy's assassination was released to the public this week.
The assassination of President John F Kennedy remains one of the most hotly debated murder cases in history and even today, almost 60 years on, amateur sleuths continue to argue over exactly what happened and whether or not Lee Harvey Oswald really had acted alone.
At the center of the controversy over the case lie the files themselves - a treasure trove of documents concerning the assassination, the evidence and the investigation surrounding them.
While there had been limited releases of these files in the past, the US government has now finally released the remaining 1,000 or so documents that had been repeatedly withheld.
That said, concerns remain regarding uncertainties over how many of these newly released files are actually new and also concerning the fact that some of the text in the documents is still redacted.
An early analysis has also noted that many of the files are so worn or so poorly scanned that they are hard to make out, while others seem to have little relevance to the Kennedy assassination case.
Some experts maintain that there are still likely to be more files out there.
Whether or not the newly released documents will help to solve the enduring mysteries surrounding the case remains unclear.
Given that many of the people involved, including witnesses and the original investigators, are now dead, it is more difficult than ever to really get to the bottom of exactly what happened.
No doubt this is a topic that will continue to be hotly debated for years to come.
