Mount Hayes has become synonymous with reports of UFOs, alien visitors and mysterious disappearances.
Situated within a notorious region of unexplained phenomena known as the Alaska Triangle, the 8,000-foot peak has long been rumored to be home to a secretive extraterrestrial facility, ever since declassified CIA files claimed that remote-viewing experiments had uncovered a base there.
Whether or not you believe this to be true, there's no denying that Mount Hayes has become something of a UFO hotspot in recent years, with enthusiasts traveling to the region and locals reporting all manner of strange sights in the sky over the mountain.
One witness - former security officer Jared Augustin - reported being left shaking in awe after seeing a glowing orb that split into three separate objects.
Another witness - a local named Wilbur - reportedly captured footage of a glowing green light over the mountain.
Perhaps most chilling of all, however, are the 2,000 or so people who have vanished without a trace in the region surrounding Mount Hayes over the last 50 years.
In 1972, for example, U.S. House Majority Leader Hale Boggs was flying from Anchorage to Juneau when his plane disappeared somewhere near the mountain.
Despite an extensive 39-day search, the plane was never found.
Today, the region remains a popular attraction, with witnesses still reporting strange lights in the sky and other phenomena they cannot explain.
Whether or not an alien base is responsible, however, remains a matter of debate.
