The enigmatic station has been unusually active over the last week and nobody knows what that could mean.
The mysterious shortwave radio station, which is known as UVB-76 (but also sometimes 'The Buzzer'), has been broadcasting a signal from somewhere within Russia for several decades.

Its indeterminate purpose, coupled with the strange and disjointed nature of its broadcasts, has earned it something of a reputation among radio enthusiasts around the world.

Ardent listeners have managed to pick up all manner of strange sounds from the station ranging from hums and buzzes to clips of cartoon characters, disjointed sentences, numbers being recited by a synthetic voice and other seemingly random words, phrases and sounds.

This has lead to a great deal of debate over exactly what these broadcasts mean and whether there is some overarching purpose to UVB-76 that nobody has been able to decipher.

Interest in the mystery was rekindled this week when reports indicated that UVB-76 had been blasting out a series of 15 messages - each containing a string of seemingly random words.

These included "PEPPER SHAKER", "PABODOLL", "SPINOBAZ" and "FRIGORIA".
By Friday, the broadcast had changed again to faint music and bursts of morse code.

Some have speculated that the sudden change in the station's behavior could indicate a ramping up of military activity, while others maintain that the meaning is likely to be far more cryptic.

Others, again, believe that the station's signals are meaningless nonsense designed to confuse Russia's enemies.

Back in November, the station broadcast the message: "NZHTI NZHTI 15854 LATVIA 5894 4167".

Could Russia be planning some sort of military operation in Latvia ?

Only time will tell.

Instructions to covert agents, is my guess. Likely connected to the Ukraine conflict.

Maybe it is, maybe that's too obvious.  I suspect it's random nonsense designed to bamboozle

I'm with you on that one. The non-sense messages have gone on for years so it likely does not pertain to anything current or topical. IMO
