The White House seems to have taken note of calls to look into any potential links between the cases.
In recent weeks we've reported on a spate of mysterious deaths and disappearances concerning various prominent scientists and government officials - many of whom having served in high-profile, sensitive roles or having been connected in some way to the UFO phenomenon.
Perhaps the most notable case - and the one most responsible for bringing the phenomenon into the spotlight - was that of retired Air Force General William Neil McCasland who went missing back in March of this year after leaving his home with little in the way of possessions.
There had been calls for the US government to launch an official investigation, especially given concerns that someone (such as a hostile foreign power) might have been specifically targeting these individuals for either kidnap or assassination.
Now, though, it looks as though the White House might have finally taken note.
On Friday, Karoline Leavitt - the White House press secretary - announced that the FBI had been directed to investigate the cases and to find out if something more might be going on.
"In light of the recent and legitimate questions about these troubling cases, and President Trump's commitment to the truth, the White House is actively working with all relevant agencies and the FBI to holistically review all of the cases together and identify any potential commonalities that may exist," she said.
The announcement came after Trump himself commented on the subject last week.
"Well, I hope it is random, but we are going to know in the next week and a half," he said.
"I just left a meeting on that subject, so pretty serious stuff. Hopefully, coincidence... but some of them were very important people, and we are going to look at it."
