The domain name, which was registered in the run-up to the release of Trump's UFO files, had generated much speculation.
Back in March, the US government registered two domain names - alien.gov and aliens.gov - which prompted a great deal of debate and intrigue among UFO enthusiasts.
The timing was significant because it came only a month after Trump had promised to release the country's secret UFO files to the public, suggesting that these domains may become the online destinations at which it would be possible to view them.
While the release of the files actually did happen (with more batches being added over time), they were ultimately made available on the Department of War's website, not on these domains.
As such, speculation about these mysterious websites had faded until this week when, finally, a website did appear on aliens.gov, redirecting users to a page on the White House's website.
The page begins promisingly, with eerie green text describing 'aliens' that are 'living among us' and referencing a 'closely guarded secret' that was 'hidden for 60 years'.
Unfortunately, though, when you read further down the page, the true purpose of the site becomes clear.
For from being a revelation about extraterrestrial visitors, the 'aliens' in question are in fact illegal immigrants - the entire site's purpose is to promote Trump's immigration policies.
Unsurprisingly, the misleading nature of the site has left a lot of people disgruntled, to say the least.
