Pentagon issues waiver to enable personnel to report UFO sightings

Image: AI-generated (Midjourney) While UFO reporting systems have improved quite a bit over the years, there are still difficulties in disclosing such experiences - especially for government personnel whose encounters occurred in classified settings.

Now, however, following on from a new pledge by President Trump a few months ago, the Pentagon has issued a new waiver that will remove these legal barriers from the equation.

The new government transparency initiative - known as the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE) - will provide designated representatives that personnel will be able to speak to if they have any close encounters to share.

Such legal protections are said to be essential in order to encourage individuals to come forward."Anytime there can be more transparency, it's great," Dr. Julia Mossbridge told Newsweek.

"I think it's great that Pursue exists and has now been steadily releasing information that had previously been declassified to the general public."

"I applaud the efforts of the Public Interest Declassification Board, the disclosure fund, the visible college, and the scientific coalition for UAP studies."
