When I still lived with my parents I had the room facing the backyard and the next door house. In the garage in our backyard we had made a heated house for the cats and our dog Sadie, an older chow mix who was always happy and friendly. One night while laying in bed watching TV I heard Sadie crying. Thinking she just wanted to play with the cats I let a little time pass before I became worried because she hadn't stopped. I walk out back to find her standing outside of the garage looking at the corner where the garage meets the fence.
Thinking it was the cats playing in the neighbors yard I walked her back into her house, petted her and returned to my room. Soon enough she began crying again and again I walk outback to investigate. She is standing outside again looking at the same spot as before. I walked inside to grab a flashlight and then went over to the neighbors yard to see if her dog or the cats were over there. Nothing. The yard was completely clear of any animals. I then go put Sadie to bed again and begin walking to the door when I heard a deep growl from directly on the other side of the fence.

I've lived with dogs all of my life and know what sounds they make... This was no dog. This growl sent shivers down my spine. I quickly shined the flashlight over the fence and again saw nothing. A completely empty dirt yard. I ran to the door and told my mom what had happened. Whatever it was it stopped bothering Sadie as she quickly went to sleep afterwards.

Dogs get spooked just as easily as humans! I had 2 rhodesian rigebacks in my youth, and they would be the bravest most ferocious dogs if a bear came around or we met a predator while out on a camping trip! But if they were out in the garden at night and a gate creeked or an owl hooted they would be in the house like a shot! Shaking and whimpering! Some dogs are more sight oriented and if they hear something but cant see it....they panic!

Certain sound frequencies can make a dog whine/cry. As for the growl I don't know. A lot of animals growl.

More if a reason to continue! But the CC is not what i wanted it to be! Religions are very much face value organisations! When you start peeling back the layers its all corruption and lies! Most religion organisations are full of corruption and lies I agree. But it's man that is corrupted and full of lies, Not God. Don't turn your back on God, as at the end it will be just you & God nobody else.

I had a similar experience to this only a couple of years ago. I was cooking dinner and had the kitchen window open with just the screen closed and as I passed by I heard a deep growl directly outside in the darkness. My first reaction of course was to jump back from the window and shout. My second was to immediately call my grandmother's dog (an exceptionally well trained 95lb German shepherd/wolf hybrid named Pandora) to my side as I rushed out the door with a loaded gun. The source of the growl turned out to be a bear that was well on its way toward the treeline at a dead run. I would not d... [More]
