Buzz Aldrin recently hinted at the presence of a 'monolith' on Phobos during an interview, now an image taken from NASA's Reconnaissance Orbiter has been revealed to show an unusual square-shaped stone structure on the surface of Mars.
An image of what appears to be a mysterious rocky monument on Mars has excited space junkies around the world. The 'monolith', was snapped from 165miles away using a special high resolution camera on board the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.

Those who believe we have been or are being visited by alien lifeforms hope that this is the evidence they are looking for. To those who are sure there are and never has been any other intelligent lifeforms visiting our corner of the galaxy this must be a rock. All you can say is that it is an interesting pic and we won't be sure what it is until we get a better pic, no photos of different rock formations on earth will change that fact, just shows that anything is possible, unless you KNOW aliens doesn't exist, then a rock is the only option.

Maybe it was put there by an alien race as like a "Hello" type thing. Maybe they figured by the time we can put a man on Mars to see it that we're ready to see that we really aren't alone. Prolly says "Mergel was here" on it

Ls, Well, monolith sjmonolith. How about its just some kind of impact splinter residue. That would explain why it would reaccur on Mars itself. What impact? Well... just take a quick look at phobos I could be mistaken but if you look carefully you can just see a small impact crater. On the other hand, I find the 'giant hole found on phobos' suspiciously round. Could it be an old alien excavation site? Perhaps its a asteroid type ship that has been left in mars orbit. The hole is the engine exhaust. The mind boggles. Dont get me wrong. I eat Sci-fi for breakfast. Lets just go there and check it... [More]

I saw they had the complete Dune troligy in a local book store for only £7.99 of our money. That doesn't seem bad value. I hope they've still got it next time I go in, but I doubt it. Still, there's also one about vampires that might do instead.* *No, not Twilight.

Ls, I would suggest the Hyperion series by Dan Simmons if you havent read them already. Its a quadrology(does that word exits?) Never read the Dune series, just saw the movie flick. We are digressing from the topic at hand a bit: Was there intelligent life on mars or is eating them just causing cavities. My guess is that if there ever was any and they migrated to earth when it cooled; making us their offspring. There never was intelligent life on Mars to begin with.

I don't remember what it was called, it was about a Count in the Carpathians who falls in with a psychic who was in hiding after helping track down a serial kiler. It didn't actually say he was a vampire, but if he's a Count, most of all if he's in the Carpathians, it seems a fairly safe rule of thumb.
