Police baffled over suicidal cows

It could be parasites. There are many 'mind controlling' parasites that get inside other living creatures and force them to do things, including kill themselves. Like there is a parasite that gets inside grasshoppers and then makes the grasshopper go to water and drown itself, so maybe these cows are infected with parasites?!!?

Though I suppose to humans we can look at said body of water and estimate our chance of making it. Which would make swimming across some seem like suicide.

I think most people just doesn't realise how stressful it is being a cow.
