So... 1.34 BILLION cubic kilometres of water come from comets?? Once more - 1.34 BILLION cubic kilometres of water came from comets - this is just incomprehensible no matter what time span you use. Possibly one of the most ridiculous ideas ( not even worth being called a theory) that I have ever heard. Willing to be proved wrong however..... How much star stuff was coming into the atmosphere after the earth was formed? I have a hard time comprehending how this much water could come from comets as well. Though I havn't researched it yet so I can't make an educated opinion, it's just that off-hand the idea seems insane.

At this moment, it sounds almost like Earth was attacked by extragalactic water balloons.
