Pope Benedict has told priests that they need to learn and make use of new technologies to spread the gospel message.
The 82-year-old pope who isn't known for his love of computers was adament that priests should use modern communications technologies. "Priests are thus challenged to proclaim the Gospel by employing the latest generation of audiovisual resources -- images, videos, animated features, blogs, websites -- which, alongside traditional means, can open up broad new vistas for dialogue, evangelization and catechesis," he announced.
In his message for the Roman Catholic Church's World Day of Communications, the pope, who is 82 and known not to love computers or the internet, acknowledged priests must make the most of the "rich menu of options" offered by new technology.

This is quite a step for the Catholic Church, given they're so rooted in tradition.

This is quite a step for the Catholic Church, given they're so rooted in tradition. Only when it suits them, back @ home base. Sounds like a great way to promote & speed up them online www.churchdonations.com Wonder how efficient/advanced their centralized global electronic banking system is? Curious about their veil of secrecy, can only guess how hi-tech it is(?)

Ya see, they wont give up! If they cant force their way in ya front door, they'll bombard the internet. I'm sorry but they'll prolly get eaten alive on the most decent of forums. The net can be ruthless! They might want to tread carefully with that info, coz The Internet dont take too kindly to men reaching out to young boys. What makes them think priests will be trusted to do so. And no, if ya try and e-mail God, dont expect a reply.

Would be more progressive if the Holy Father reversed their stance on contraception.

So, wouldn't it be poetic justice if, given the churches stance on contraception, they "accidentally" downloaded a virus? God willing.
