A zebra is currently on the loose somewhere in the Cascade Mountains and nobody has been able to catch it.
If you happen to go hiking in the wilderness near the town of North Bend, Washington this week, you are in with a chance of seeing mountain lions, elk and perhaps even the odd Bigfoot.
You are also in with a reasonable chance of coming across a zebra.
This peculiar addition to the local wildlife comes courtesy of the recent escape of four zebras from a trailer while they were being transported to a zoo in Montana.
Officials were able to quickly capture three of the animals, but the fourth not only managed to get away but has since become something of a local celebrity.
Five days on, the elusive striped beast is still missing and officials believe that it has moved deeper into the national forest, making it particularly difficult to track down and recapture.
Trail camera footage has indicated that the animal is eating and drinking and seems to be healthy.
"We have been out in rain, shine, snow, thunder, lightning just to make sure we know how it's doing," said horse trainer Dallas Clark. "None of us has ever done a zebra before so this is all new."
"But we're trying to treat it no different than we would any other animal that's lost in the woods."
