Wait, did I miss something? Why do they think these remains are Saint John's? Were there diions on the box or where it was found?

Yeah, I agree, details are needed in this article. It would be very cool though, for relics to have been found. And there are some ways for the bones to have gotten there, and im sure they have some proof to state that they belong to st. John.

It looks like a reliquary that people used to keep holy artifacts in. Lots of churches in Europe have relics stashed away. There is no way to proove if these bones are from John the Baptist. Like Psykotic said, the best they can hope for is the sex and a date... if there is even enough to do DNA analysis on. The bones could have come from anyone.

Why do you need details, it's utterly impossible for those 3 particular pieces to be together since JB has been beheaded and his body separated (for burial) from his head.

So let me remember the story.. JB is beheaded in or near Jerusalem, and his partial remain mysteriously appear in Bulgaria: a tooth a jaw and piece of arm. Now if he was beheaded by Herod, his head should have been on display on the walls of the city for all to see. The body must had a been buried somewhere far from his disciples/and or friends who could have given him a proper Hebrew burial. Therefore how could jaw tooth and arm could have been reunited and then mysteriously found their way to Bulgaria? Also, apparently there are some body part in Iran. To finish, JB couldn't have been a chri... [More]

I kow its a long shot for these bones to be JBs, specially with all the relic forgery that has been so popular in other times, but my point is that it would be cool to find them, also its not utterly imposible. theres always a margin of chance, no matter how small that it could be JBs I mean, of course theres no way to prove them to be his, but there is always a tiny probability that somehow these bones got together somehow.... they found jesuses tomb and the ark... What? +_+ I'm fairly sure they didn't, that would be front page news. (not calling you a liar btw, I'm just saying things aren't necessarily what people say they are)
