Early humans very similar to ourselves

Archaeologist John Shea has made the case that the earliest humans were very similar to modern humans.
The research is based off of the idea that searching for evidence of 'behavioral modernity' in early man is not the correct approach and that instead a 'behavioral variability' should be researched pertaining to the behaviour of all living things.
Shea tested the hypothesis that there were differences in behavioral variability between earlier and later Homo sapiens using stone tool evidence dating to between 250,000- 6000 years ago in eastern Africa.
