Man's sight restored after 55 years

A man who was blind in one eye for 55 years can see again after surgeons reattached his retina.
In a medical first the man, who lost sight in one eye after being hit with a stone as a child, is now able to see again in both eyes after a visit to hospital revealed that he was able to detect a bright light in his blind eye. "To the best of our knowledge this is the first report of visual recovery in a patient with long-standing traumatic retinal detachment," says Dr Olusola Olawoye.
A man in the US, who was blinded in one eye 55 years ago, has had his sight restored, according to the Journal of Medical Case Reports. The patient was eight when his retina was detached after he was hit in the right eye with a stone.
