'UFO' sighted over Olympics opening

Sightings of a disc-shaped object hovering over the Olympic stadium have been circulating the internet.

Nick Pope predicted just weeks before the Olympics that the opening ceremony would be the prime time and place for an extraterrestrial race to present themselves to the world. Was this wishful thinking on his part or could there be some truth to the idea that an event as big as the Olympics would be likely to draw otherworldly attention ?

In one piece of footage of a firework display at the opening ceremony viewers have pointed out a disc shaped object flying high over the stadium. Is this the evidence proving that Nick Pope was right or could there be a more down-to-Earth explanation ?

"Want proof that Danny Boyle and the gang put on the greatest show in the galaxy for the London 2012 Opening Ceremony? Well, even mysterious beings from other planets showed up to catch a glimpse."

If this was an alien craft then they must have fireworks on their planet as they knew we were not firing missiles towards the craft. Anyway, it was a helicopter or a news blimp.

That UFO was on the highlights again last night. How strange it seems to be hanging around most nights and it seems like whoever is piloting this UFO is allowing the bbc to shoot footage of the stadium from it! This is real evidence of the bbc being involved in a coverup of extraterrestrials but also covertly using their technology for overhead shots of the Olympic stadium. Or.... It could be a blimp? I don't know which one is more believable?

That's not a blimp. The other day I was blow drying my dog with my air compressor and the tip got stuck in it's butt. He inflated and floated away towards London. Watch out for brown hailstones.

Well, how about these? These are the official mascots (apparently, though I don't think I've seen very much of them.) Whatever do they represent? Didn't everyone want plushies of them ? http://www.care2.com/causes/7-olympic-mascots-what-was-the-ioc-thinking-slideshow.html
