Base jumper Richard Henriksen was caught on camera when a daredevil stunt went horribly wrong.
Henrikson's latest stunt involving the use of gymnastics equipment to swing out over the edge of a cliff before letting go was being filmed as part of a TV series in Norway. A high-bar was set up and he had started to swing on it when the apparatus broke and collapsed, sending him hurtling over the edge in mid-swing. The horrified camera crew could do nothing but look on in horror.

Fortunately for Henrikson his head missed the rock face as he flew past and he managed to open his parachute in time to make a safe landing. "When this happened, I thought, he is going to die," said presenter Arde Sende Osen. "It's the worst (event) I've experienced at work."
Surgeon Richard Henriksen's penchant for performing gymnastics before BASE jumping from cliffs in western Norway made him the ideal candidate for Norwegian state broadcaster NRK's television show "Normal Madness".

Most stuntmen, daredevils and the like usually take calculated risks, so I don't feel they are taking a huge risk or doing something stupid, more of a scare factor thing. But like others have said, his rig is the most dodgy looking thing ever! What calculations were made here? Awesome outcome though.

I bet he had to clean his drawers when he got to the bottom.

Jeeze, even an amatuer engineer can see that the set-up was ripe for disaster. I could tell that from the very beginning. What a bone-head. Engineer? Far less knowledgable people could spot this disaster. All they needed was some steel tubing which would've probably cost less than the cables they used.

God. Why do people do these things? Seriously.. Why would anyone put themselves in danger knowing that there is a slight chance on having your life taken away from you in just a second.
