Nathan Grindal got more than be bargained for when he went to watch a darts tournament in Somerset.

Excited to be watching the televised match in person, Nathan had been having a good time until some other members of the crowd realised that with his long beard and hair he happened to bear more than a passing resemblance to Jesus. Soon afterwards the whole venue had erupted with chants of 'Jesus, Jesus' and 'Stand up if you love Jesus'. It didn't take long for Nathan to be escorted from the building by security guards over fears that the crowd's reaction to his presence was disrupting the players.

"I love darts, but I’m worried about ever going to see it live again," he said after having to make do with watching the match on TV. "It was all very weird and distressing. I didn’t go to the darts dressed as Jesus - I went as me."

"When darts fans saw bearded Nathan Grindal at a tournament, they thought they were witnessing not just a double top but a second coming."

No one actually knows what Jesus looked like.Every painting I've seen portrays him slightly different, and there were no cameras those days.If he stood in a Police line up for example where people look similar, could anyone pick him out.

Get a haircut anf real JOB Do you even know what he does for a job? I know a guy who looks vaguely similar and is on his way to becoming a professor at one of the top universities in the country. Do you mind if I ask what you do for a living? Wow, could this guy possibly whine more? ‘They were bullying me and picking on me, saying that I was someone else.’ This guy needs to man up, seriously. I hope his delicate feelings didn't get too hurt. If someone calls you Jesus, just roll with it and have fun! Yes... He should man up and deal with being thrown out of an event he'd paid for just because ... [More]

The organisers had better have refunded his ticket is all I can say. I'm pretty sure that Wolfknight was alluding to a song...the lyrics include the phrase "get a haircut and get a REAL job" IOW - he was j o k i n g

Yeah....but whataya gonna do... Well, you could throw out the troublemakers and not the bystander, but then you have the possibility of starting a drunken riot among the evictees.

I should elaborate a little bit further... I've been to these Darts tournaments and I tell you that people like to dress up. When Wayne Mardle's at the ocke you get a sudden rash of Hawaiian shirts. So I don't think a messiah figure would look out of place at this costume party. Maybe he just wandered off because of one too many Lemon Sherbets. Old Sid would be laughing his sides off in heaven.

The bearded man, referred to as “Blakey” by the police, is mistaken for Jesus by the children, who are influenced by stories they have recently heard at Sunday school. The fugitive makes no attempt to correct their mistake http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whistle_Down_the_Wind_%28film%29
