The underestimated intelligence of an Entity

There are much more open minded people across the world regarding believing in the Paranormal and the existence of the After Life. Thanks to the media, and bigger research firms such as TAPS a.k.a. Ghost Hunters and many others, more and more people are paying attention to the unknown as it has become more mainstream. As an experienced Paranormal Investigator myself, not only do I constantly question what is on the other side, but I question the intelligence of spirits. In my own personal experiences and with many investigations under my belt I believe entities, and spirits are far much more intelligent than Investigators and Researchers truly think.

You have many eye witnesses across the world that experience objects moving on their own. People have experienced hearing voices when they are alone. People have been touched by something supernatural that isn’t visible to the human eye. There are very rare cases of ecto plasma residue that is left behind by en entity. There are very few and rare cases of near possession, where people claim that an entity or spirit has tried to enter the realm of a human body. However, most of the world is aware of a few different hauntings that have been documented by reputable Investigators and Researchers in our field. Some of those are residual, poltergeists, and a human haunting.

I believe with the personal experiences I have had, and people have witnessed that entities and spirits are definitely intelligent no matter the type of haunting they are experiencing. They know how to communicate through our tools and have enough energy to them to physically manipulate objects. However, in a warning to all of those who are Paranormal enthusiasts and Investigators we all underestimate the intelligence of an entity or spirit. Perhaps its because we lack the knowledge of their world or realm.

After a most recent personal experience I have had, I question to all of you is it possible for an entity or spirit to create their own stigmata? Let me explain further. For those how do not know what stigmata is here is the correct definition.

Stigmata are the wounds of Christ as reproduced in a human body. Visible stigmata are frequently located in both hands and both feet, and on the right side of the chest, replicating the sites of Christ's wounds, which he showed to the disciples in his post-resurrection appearances (Luke 24: 36-40 and John 20: 19-29). The most famous of the stigmatics, St Francis of Assisi, received the stigmata in these places. Occasionally wounds on the head, in the shape of a crown (copying the crown of thorns), and marks on either shoulder (representing the carrying of the cross and scourging) are evidence of stigmata too. Stigmata might also be invisible, marked by the pain of wounds in the classic places, or alternately invisible and visible. St Catherine of Sienna received the stigmata of the five wounds in a vision but asked God to make them disappear, after which she experienced only the pain of the wounds.

The appearance of stigmata varies greatly. Stigmata have ranged from the nail imprints of St Francis' wounds — for which Francis consequently required bandages to cover the protruding nail shapes so that he might use his hands and feet (though he had no bandages from Thursday evening to Saturday morning in order that he might share Christ's Good Friday suffering) — to cuts of varying length and depth, blisters, and scabs of dried blood. Bleeding or manifestation of the stigmata might in some cases be continual while in other cases occur only periodically — for example, in Lent and Holy Week, or on particular days of the week, especially Fridays or Good Friday. In the case of Padre Pio, the twentieth-century stigmatic, his hands bled lightly but almost continually, soaking the gloves he wore, and the wound in his chest produced a cup of blood each day.

Stigmata are often accompanied by other bodily phenomena such as pain, blood, sweats, levitations, or even lameness or blindness, and they quite often occur in people who are already ill or are voluntarily abstaining from food for religious reasons. Many of the women nuns and saints who fasted and/or existed on the host alone, in late medieval and early modern Europe, received the stigmata, such as St Catherine of Sienna, who fasted — except for eating the blessed host — for eight years. Stigmatic’s often receive religious visions or ecstasies, having visions of Christ and various saints, and also ‘re-living’ or seeing parts of Christ's passion and sharing in his suffering.
Stigmata seem to have begun to appear only in the thirteenth century, with the growing popularity of the imitation of Christ, especially the suffering Christ, in patterns of piety and devotional life. Of some 330 recorded cases of persons receiving the stigmata, only about 60 of those have been made saints. The official Roman Catholic position towards stigmata has always been rather guarded.

It seems that the vast majority of stigmata have been women. In the case of the late medieval and early modern female religious, their receiving the stigmata has been interpreted as one of a number of experiences or phenomena, including fasting and other forms of asceticism, by which women participated in the imitation of Christ. Through their bodies they could share in the suffering of Christ, who in his body suffered to save humankind, and by the signs of their suffering, such as the stigmata, they gained access to power and authority, not by virtue of office (which was denied them) but through experience. In the modern period, female stigmatic’s have been consistently subjected to medical testing, in the quest for authenticity, and there is an abundance of medical evidence for stigmatic’s, such as Catherine Emmerich (1774-1824), Louise Lateau (1850-83), and the early twentieth-century Teresa Neumann. In nineteenth-century France especially, this kind of medical testing of female bodies by male doctors bears some comparison with Charcot's study of hysteria, especially as stigmatic’s and hysterics were seen to share some of the same pathologies or symptoms. In both cases the body was seen to hold the ‘truth’. A medical doctor, Imbert-Gourbeyre, visited and examined as many of the nineteenth-century stigmatic’s as he could, as well as examining and compiling evidence about other unusual religious phenomena such as the miracles reported at Lourdes, and his medical study of 1894, La Stigmatisation, I'extase divine, les miracles de Lourdes, illustrates very well this sort of approach.

Now that you know a correct terminology of stigmata, I shall continue forward with my experience. My research firm and I were investigating a beautiful Long Island Gold Coast Mansion in Nassau County this past Summer. There was a story or claim about a shrine nearby the mansion located on a golf course where employee’s have spoke of seeing an apparition of a woman praying at this shrine because her child was buried there. It was dusk out but there was enough daylight to see. As we approached the shrine, it stood about 15 to 20 feet tall on an island of a wooded area. It stood on a huge hill. There were 5 of us going into this investigation that very night, and only 3 of us ventured off into the island of woods to look over this amazing shrine. We knew the where abouts of our other team members at all times. All 3 of us struggled to climb this big hill. We finally got to the surface and gazed upon the shrine in awe. We set up our cameras and audio recorders. I set my video camera up on a tri-pod, and the audio recorders were placed by on the shrine.

After a short while passed on, we were getting eaten alive by a swarm of mosquitoes. So we ended our session and started to pack up. We followed each other in a straight line of path exiting the woods as I took the lead. As we finally made it out of the wooded area our 3rd member who was with us met up with the rest of our crew and headed back to the mansion. As the others were leaving, Me and another member stayed behind because we noticed a couple of people walking on the golf course. We wanted to make sure it wasn’t security. We yelled out to them, but got no response. We also warned our other members in case they ran into them. We told them to let security know we had permission to be there. The next thing I thought of was that I wanted to make sure a bunch of kids weren’t messing with us.

So we decided to walk around the island, and meet up with the people walking on the green. We hurried so we wouldn’t miss them, and as we got around the bend of the island, they were completely gone! Vanished without a trace! If they were people and entered the woods, we would of seen them and heard them ourselves because they were pretty close by. We might of experienced a phenomenon called Shadow People! What does this have to do with stigmata? As we started to meet back up with our other investigators I noticed a patch of blood on my sock and shoe!? I was curious how I got it, so I started to search for a wound or cut. I thought of some logical explanations first like maybe I got cut by thorns, ran into some berries, or walked through a carcass of a dead animal without noticing? However, I do not recall getting cut, or smelling a dead animal. How come the other investigators did not have anything red on them? We all walked into a direct line of path of one another. How come the other investigators did not smell a dead animal? As we got back to the mansion, I hit the men’s room to check myself out for a wound. It’s the only thing I could think of. Well… I found absolutely nothing on me! Not a scratch, not a cut, nothing! Naturally I freaked out a little, but I also felt apprehensive when we investigated the shrine. Then witnessing a hand full of shadow people to go with the patch of blood? This was no ordinary patch of blood either. It was pretty big.

I felt a state of depression after this incident occurred for a couple of weeks. After the 3rd week it finally started going away. So here I ask the question to all of you, can spirits cause stigmata? I believe that entities and spirits are far much more intelligent than investigators have imagined! I have many eye witnesses to this event, and it’s well documented. I think they can, and they could be smarter than me and you!

Do you have a picture of the patch of blood?

I thought the stigmata was like five wounds, blood coming from wounds or pain instead of the wounds in the areas where the wounds should appear. You got what you believe to be blood on your sock and shoe. Doesnt really sound like stigmata to me. How big were these mosquitos that were eating you up? Ive seen some good sized ones and after the little vampires get done feeding or during even they leave a good amount of blood when killed. My Guess squashed mosquito !

Are you claiming that you experienced stigmata? Noooooooo. I agree with the poster above me. It was most likely a mosquito.

How do you know? Were you there? It was not a mosquito... I have had 3 other witnesses, have documented on video. I still have the sock with the blood on it. I did not hit a mosquito on my ankle to make it squish into a patch of blood like that. And normally mosquitos do not create that much blood either. This is no ordinary patch of blood. It got on my sock, my shoes, and on the bathroom floor when I went to clean myself up. No matter what I say here, people are not going to believe me, but I can take a photograph of the sock with the blood on it to prove it. I have 3 witnesses that were with... [More]

So then your sock had the stigmata? (Sorry, I couldn't resist). Listen, blood doesn't dry red. But, if you need the validation so badly, take your sock to a lab and have it tested to see if it is indeed blood and if so, who the blood belongs to (you, an animal, unknown, etc.).

No matter what I say here, people are not going to believe me, Ok, i called it...supernatural cuts. On exorcism, if the possessed person accidentally cut you by their fingernails. There is blood but the wounds heals in just a mere second. Take it or leave it.

Just to let everyone know who read this article... F.Y.I. I am not saying what I experienced was Stigmata. I just threw the question, is it possible for Spirits to possess that kind of supernatural ability? Stigmata was the closest thing I can decribe and compare my experience to better explain it.

So far, there is no explanation for it, that's where my head is at? I'm not ruling out any possibility. It's good to be a skeptical investigator. There needs to be a balance. I for one do not say everything we experience is paranormal. We just can't figure out so far why certain things happen the way they do.

My ex-girlfriend Nadia is a Bulgarian beauty who related a similar story about a cematery she once passed through late at night with a friend (in Bulgaria). Apparently they were walking through this cematery and were joking about it being haunted. They realized at one point that there shoes were wet as if they had walked through water which they knew they hadn't. Upon investigating they saw what looked to be blood all over the bottom of their shoes. Becoming frightened they quickly left. Interesting I thought. Stigmata? that's just a word. never mind quote: It seems you are looking for a super... [More]
