A computer programmer from Finland who lost one of his fingers in a motorcycle accident has opted to replace it with a USB drive built in to a special prosthetic finger. The connector for the device is concealed inside the fingernail and can be hidden away when not in use. Could this pave the way for other enhancements to prosthetic devices in the future ?
A computer programmer from Finland who lost his ring finger in a motorcycle accident has had it replaced with a USB drive. Jerry Jalava has built a special prosthetic finger which contains computer storage for photos, movies and other useful files. While the prosthetic looks like a normal finger Jerry can peel it back from the 'nail' and plug it into the USB slot on his computer using it as an additional hard drive. "

Strange idea, the finger would have to be taken off, or it would be quite annoying i think. Having to sit in an akward position, and only being able to use one hand, while transfering 10GB. A small screwdriver or something similar, would be more useful, from a purely practical point of view. Well maybe if the USB finger was wireless, then it would be a better idea. Cant believe i am actually making a semi-serious reply to something like this, lol.

If it's just the finger, then there can't be much extension cord to go with it. Meaning he'd need to be constantly holding his arm awkwardly up or down to the USB port while transferring files. Highly not useful lol. well its a removeable prosthetic so its basically a finger style usb drive rotfl

"Eeks! What's that attached to the USB port? Wha..? Is that a human finger?!" "Oops, sorry, that's mine."

"Eeks! What's that attached to the USB port? Wha..? Is that a human finger?!" "Oops, sorry, that's mine." I'm sure he'd be getting plenty of priceless moments with a "Pull my finger!" routine.
