The age of light switches and TV remote controls could soon be over as new technology emerges allowing a person to control equipment through thought alone thanks to 'brain-computer interface' systems.
Light switches, TV remote controls and even house keys could become a thing of the past thanks to brain-computer interface (BCI) technology being developed in Europe that lets users perform everyday tasks with thoughts alone."

Just reminds me of the episode of the Simpsons with Pierce Brosnan in it... Even though that was different.

Very practical, but not sure how efficient it would be. If you're distracted or your mind is pre-occupied, it could have some interesting results.

Imagine coming home drunk . Switching on the door and opening the light ...... Probably great technology , but I'd still like a switch as a backup.

Imagine watching "Wheel of Fortune" with your grandma, then getting a flash of Ms. White, and then having your mind switch the channel to...eh...well, you get the idea.

If every time I think of the words "off" or "on" the lights flicker, the television set goes to sleep, or the front door swings open isn't this whole thing simply going to be a brand-new version of "I'll give you five dollars if you can go for five minutes without thinking of the word 'hippopotamus'"? P. S. And didn't the Krell start off this way?
